A new group that call themselves the ChinaSnow Dev Team came up with an alternative iPhone unlock similar to the Gevey Sim. They sell a physical contraption that is inserted near the carrier sim and unlocks the phone without requiring software installs. The device dubbed the TPSIM can be bought and shipped from their website here. As you may have noticed, the TRPSIM sells for around $85, making it only practical if you are 100% dependent on an unlock. Not only does the TPSIM work with 3G and many basebands, it unlike the Gevey sim does not require a quick emergency call, and supports the iPhone 4S. The TPSIM is still in pre-order so you may want to wait until its release to see reviews. We will report on the TPSIM again, so make sure to check back later.
